Rich history, sunshine, award-winning golf courses, numerous lakes and rivers, mountains, and the Atlantic coast give South Carolina its name for being one of the top vacation destinations in the United States. There are lots of attractions that are not to be missed as you travel this great state. The Beaches
A lot of the state of South Carolina is on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. Visiting the Charleston, Myrtle Beach, or Hilton Head Island areas to see some pristine coastline with aquatic life and fun galore. Most beaches of South Carolina are public and allow visitors to bring coolers and umbrellas and make a day out of their coastal adventure. If you’re lucky, you may find a beach that allows pets and that features friendly locals that will give you tips about places to eat and enjoy your surroundings. Bring your RV to one of the many coastal areas and enjoy a day on the beach!

Charleston
Charleston, South Carolina is a very historic town that is rich in southern culture and filled with southern hospitality. Visit during the spring for the Spoletto arts and music festival, or visit over the holidays for a warm alternative to the frigid temperatures that most of the rest of the country is experiencing. See the many art galleries and shops that line King Street, or head out to the beaches to enjoy a day of fun in the sun. Visit the historic College of Charleston campus, or take a tour of the Citadel’s campus. Drive around and see all the older homes and classic Charlestonian architecture of churches and other public buildings. There is something for everyone if your RV finds its way into historic Charleston.

Lakes
There are many lakes in South Carolina that can be enjoyed from campsites. Do some research about which lakes will intersect your journey in South Carolina and see if there is a campsite for you to enjoy. Most lakes feature a campsite and even boat or jet ski rentals if you choose to take your journey onto the open waters. Pack your swim suit and head to one of the many beautiful lakes in SC while on your RV trip.

Myrtle Beach
Myrtle Beach features one of the beaches mentioned above, but also has quite the night life and lots of golf courses. Visit this area to enjoy one of many excellent public golf courses, bars and music venues, and five star restaurants. Many shops are here that feature local art, souvenirs, and other South Carolinian flair. Myrtle Beach is an experience not to be missed by anyone interested in visiting the south at any time of year.

Visitors to Gaffney, South Carolina will find several opportunities to enjoy special holiday festivities this year. Starting in early December and continuing through the month, any of these special activities will help usher in the holiday spirit. All of the scheduled events are family friendly and welcome visitors.

The 10th annual Christmas on Limestone begins on December 3 at 5pm in historic downtown Gaffney. The campus of Limestone College will be the setting of the Lighting of the Luminaries. The campus and surrounding neighborhoods will be illuminated lit by over 10,000 luminaries. Other activities on campus include a holiday reception, a visit from Santa, and the lighting of the Limestone College Christmas tree on the front lawn. A “Sounds of the Season” holiday concert will be presented by the Limestone College Music Department. The concert is a montage of choral music performed by community choral groups and the Limestone College Children’s Chorus. Festivities will take place over several blocks of the downtown area as well. Activities will include horse and carriage rides, live music and caroling, the lighting of the city’s Christmas tree, a live nativity, and free ornament making at the Gaffney Visitor’s Center.

The Gaffney Christmas Parade is scheduled for Saturday, December 11. The parade begins at 10am in Thompson Park and proceeds along Limestone Street in downtown Gaffney. Participating in the parade will be ROTC units, local and regional bands, decorated floats, and Santa. This is a fun holiday event for the entire family. After the parade ends, tourists may wish to visit the Festival of Trees at Gaffney City Hall, or do some Christmas shopping in one of downtown Gaffney’s specialty stores.

Visitors to the area should also plan to spend some time shopping for holiday gifts at the Gaffney Premium Outlets. The 75 outlet stores at the mall include such favorites as Brooks Brothers, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Gap, Polo Ralph Lauren, Coach, and Pottery Barn. The outlets will be open extended holiday hours following Thanksgiving, and many of the stores will offer sales and special holiday promotions.

Whether in town for the weekend or just passing through, visitors are welcome to participate Gaffney residents for the festivities. Gaffney’s small town charm and friendly atmosphere are certainly to bring tourists in the holiday mood. Gaffney is located in the Upstate of South Carolina.
