North Carolina is one of the most business friendly states in United States. It has been received the top rating for any US state to have the best business climate in 2007. At a time when many business processes are being outsourced to some other countries for reducing the production cost and thereby creating a better and competitive pricing structure, creating a suitable and attractive business climate is absolutely necessary for attracting quality business and industrial investment to any state.

The state government of North Carolina should be lauded for their efforts for attracting investments to the state. They specifically have two schemes, which cater well for the business growth of North Carolina. One North Carolina Fund was launched in 2001. So far it has been successful in creating more than 17000 job opportunities and also in romping over two million dollars of business investment to the state. There is another scheme called Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG), which has been set up for providing annual grants to worthy and suitable business and industrial projects. This scheme was started in 2003. Every year 25 such grants are provided. The grants are provided to the business firms, which are strategically important and look to be on the winning path. So far JDIG has been successful in attracting business worth $1.9 billion and in turn creating over 10000 job opportunities.

Some of the big companies that have invested in the state of North Carolina are GlaxoSmithKline, Boon Edam Tomsed Inc., and Dole Food Company. These companies have invested quite huge sums. Their willingness to invest is a glittering evidence for the business friendly environment in North Carolina. In other words, the co-operation and interest shown by the state government to attract investment have been appreciated by the companies.

The Governor of the state, Michael Easley says the government adopts simple plans that can be executed easily for attracting the business organizations. He says, “Our interest has been the simple strategy of improving education and reducing the cost of doing business.” His statement clearly emphasizes two traditional strengths of North Carolina that make the state highly attractive destination for many business organizations. There is an abundant pool of highly talented and educated people, from whom a company can hire any number of suitable employees. But the cutting of cost is no longer a feasible option when competing with international business destinations in this era of outsourcing and globalization.

South Carolina is likely the most overlooked location for historic home ownership. Maybe because it’s so common for us to see them scattered throughout our landscape. You can travel up and down the SC coast and you’ll find large southern plantations in parts of the Lowcountry hidden behind moss covered live oak trees. If you’re a little hesitant about buying rural property in South Carolina you can easily find hundreds of Historic Homes for sale in Charleston on the market today. In Charleston, you can pretty much get whatever you are looking for. If you want to be in a historical waterfront home in the City of Charleston…it’s pretty common to be available. Chances are that you are likely to run across home in need of repair or a caretaker to maintain everyday upkeep.

But don’t think Charleston is the only place to find historic homes for sale in South Carolina. Columbia is only an hour and a half away from the Blue Ridge Mountains on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other and has a huge historic presence and a modest equestrian community. Camden SC, deemed the oldest inland SC city and the home to the distinctive “Carolina Cup Steeplechase”, is a popular suburb of Columbia. Here you will find lots of acreage for sale or equestrian farms for sale with historic homes on the premises. If you’re looking to be a little more urban and the historic plantation homes in Camden aren’t in your vision, you should revert back to Columbia.

Historically, Columbia was known as a “Mill Town” and the city itself is located in one of the most transportation friendly areas in the South. Rivers, railroads, and interstates have always played a major factor of successful historical commerce… as it does today. There were several active textile mills in the area. Mills needed workers, workers needed homes, and homes needed neighborhoods close to work. This idea created the best neighborhoods in Columbia for mill workers. The City of Columbia also prospered around the South Carolina State Capitol building and suggested the need for luxury mansions and historic homes in the city. Nowadays, historic homes for sale in Columbia are likely to be concealed by a lawyer’s office sign in the window. Most of these homes have been preserved, but the use has changed from residential to commercial use. In any case, there is a presence and a need of historic home preservation in Columbia.

South Carolina real estate has remained relevant throughout the years of economic turmoil. Historic properties tend to be among the top of the market in value. There are historical societies that are structured to help maintain the balance of new home construction and historic preservation in South Carolina.

Deciding on South Carolina golf destinations for your golf vacation can be hard. But if you choose to golf in South Carolina for your next golf trip, you really cannot go wrong. Let’s look at four locations and help you find the right destination for your next South Carolina golf vacation.

From the Upstate, to the midlands, to the coast: this state offers great golf courses in all areas and locations. But for the sake of this article, we will focus on the South Carolina coast where most golfers book their South Carolina golf vacation packages. So for those of you wanting to golf coastal South Carolina, let’s take a look at Kiawah Island, Charleston, Hilton Head and of course Myrtle Beach.

Kiawah Island golf packages might cost more than vacation packages in other coastal destinations. But if you love golf, luxurious accommodations and a secluded setting; then this might just be the South Carolina golf destination for you. The golf is spectacular and the private, natural setting will have coming back to play Kiawah Island golf courses again and again.

Charleston golf vacations are not as popular as other locations. They should be. The city itself annually wins awards as one of the best places to visit and one of the best places to dine. But golf in Charleston is also no slouch. Golf courses in locations like Wild Dunes and Patriot’s Point can compete will provide you with great golf and if you are up for the short drive, Kiawah Island is just down the road.

For the golfer who wants to enjoy a South Carolina golf vacation that features a large quantity of golf courses with plenty of other options to enjoy, then you might want to consider Hilton Head Island. A Hilton Head, SC vacation provides all the golf you can play along with great tennis, beaches, biking trails and more in a larger but smaller scale than what is found in Myrtle Beach.

And speaking of the Grand Strand, Myrtle Beach golf packages have long been the front runner when it comes to South Carolina golf destinations and golf vacations. If you want a golf vacation package with most golf course options then you will want to golf coastal South Carolina on the Grand Strand.

As you can see, you have four great choices when choosing a coastal golf vacation in South Carolina. You can really not go wrong when choosing from Myrtle Beach, Kiawah Island, Charleston or Hilton Head. And heck, why not take a month off work and play golf at all four of these coastal South Carolina golf destinations.

Visitors to Gaffney, South Carolina will find several opportunities to enjoy special holiday festivities this year. Starting in early December and continuing through the month, any of these special activities will help usher in the holiday spirit. All of the scheduled events are family friendly and welcome visitors.

The 10th annual Christmas on Limestone begins on December 3 at 5pm in historic downtown Gaffney. The campus of Limestone College will be the setting of the Lighting of the Luminaries. The campus and surrounding neighborhoods will be illuminated lit by over 10,000 luminaries. Other activities on campus include a holiday reception, a visit from Santa, and the lighting of the Limestone College Christmas tree on the front lawn. A “Sounds of the Season” holiday concert will be presented by the Limestone College Music Department. The concert is a montage of choral music performed by community choral groups and the Limestone College Children’s Chorus. Festivities will take place over several blocks of the downtown area as well. Activities will include horse and carriage rides, live music and caroling, the lighting of the city’s Christmas tree, a live nativity, and free ornament making at the Gaffney Visitor’s Center.

The Gaffney Christmas Parade is scheduled for Saturday, December 11. The parade begins at 10am in Thompson Park and proceeds along Limestone Street in downtown Gaffney. Participating in the parade will be ROTC units, local and regional bands, decorated floats, and Santa. This is a fun holiday event for the entire family. After the parade ends, tourists may wish to visit the Festival of Trees at Gaffney City Hall, or do some Christmas shopping in one of downtown Gaffney’s specialty stores.

Visitors to the area should also plan to spend some time shopping for holiday gifts at the Gaffney Premium Outlets. The 75 outlet stores at the mall include such favorites as Brooks Brothers, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Gap, Polo Ralph Lauren, Coach, and Pottery Barn. The outlets will be open extended holiday hours following Thanksgiving, and many of the stores will offer sales and special holiday promotions.

Whether in town for the weekend or just passing through, visitors are welcome to participate Gaffney residents for the festivities. Gaffney’s small town charm and friendly atmosphere are certainly to bring tourists in the holiday mood. Gaffney is located in the Upstate of South Carolina. A visit in here will provide many opportunities to enjoy all that Gaffney has to offer.

Charleston is a popular place to relocate for many reasons. One of those reasons is it’s great geographical location. The city was originally built on a peninsula of land that divides the Ashley and Cooper Rivers. Now days, the metropolitan area sprawls across the three counties Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester. In Charleston you can find a variety of terrain including tidal marshes, lakes, river, bays, coves and the Atlantic Ocean and its beaches.

One of the most popular reason people move to Charleston is because they want to live near the beach. If you want to live on the beach, Charleston features a wide variety of beaches depending on what you’re looking for. Folly Beach has a more laid back feel and is very popular with those who like to surf. There’s also Kiawah, Seabrook and Wild Dunes if you would prefer a private beach. Isle of Palms and Sullivan’s Island provide a convenient location, closer to the downtown scene, and with plenty of public access. Sullivan’s is one of the more historical beaches in Charleston and is a quaint place to live featuring mostly houses and only two or three condos.

Besides the great selection of beaches, many people choose to relocate to Charleston for a variety of other reasons. Charleston is a cosmopolitan city whose residents enjoy the rich history of the city. Today, historic downtown Charleston is a reflection of what life was like in the past, with 18th century storefronts and other well-preserved buildings.

People also choose to relocate to Charleston because it is a great place to raise a family. Those who are looking to buy a home can find a great selection of homes and neighborhoods to meet their families’ needs. Charleston features some of the best public school districts and private schools in the state. In addition to the great schools, Charleston has a lot of other kid-oriented places too, such as the SC Aquarium, beaches, and county park.

But Charleston isn’t just a place for growing families. The A-A-R-P named Charleston as one of the top five dream towns in the U.S. for retirees. If you look at Charleston’s demographics, you’ll find that there are a lot of retirees. But, most don’t choose to live in a neighborhood solely geared towards retirement. Since Charleston has such a mix of people anyway, they base their decision on which community they like the most. Or, they decide based on location. The neighborhood that best suits their lifestyle may have other retirees as well as younger and older families.

Currently, Columbia, South Carolina’s real estate market is offering a wide range of decent homes for sale. The average home price is $249,000. Single family homes, duplexes, recreation homes, elegant homes and palaces are among many choices available to the customers.

When you buy a home in Columbia, South Carolina, sure, you are going to look over the house as carefully and thoroughly as possible before making your offer to the seller. But the fact is, you are not an expert in the field. The real estate agents or realtor are. An experienced realtor or agent can show you every property available for sale in the Lake Murray area, Lexington area in Columbia, South Carolina.

Nevertheless, you have to ensure that you select a real estate agent who knows the Columbia in detail and has already previewed many of the homes available for sale in the region. Community knowledge is important because you are not just buying a house; you are buying a home in a local neighborhood in a specific community.

As a matter of fact, buying and selling real estate can be real complex and not to mention the biggest financial decision most people ever make. With so much at stake, working with a professional real estate agent can help you locate the right property at the right price, or negotiate the best deal possible if you are selling your home. Because the Columbia real estate industry is becoming more sophisticated and challenging every day, you need a professional who understands the industry and is positioned to keep you ahead of the game.

Referrals before making the final decision could also be of help. If a friend or family member had a good experience purchasing a house in the same area, you could always take their advice.

Crappies are divided into two categories which are called Black Crappie and White Crappie. The black crappie is, of course, darker in color than the white crappie but this is not the only difference. It has seven or eight dorsal spines and several spots on its sides. When fishing in deep water and large impoundments you will most likely find the black crappie because this is the type of environment they prefer.

White crappies are lighter in color and have only six dorsal spines. They also have eight or nine vertical bands on both of its sides instead of spots and the white crappie prefer living in more quite remote places than the black crappie.

The average weight for a crappie is one pound but it is possible to catch crappie weighing up to five pounds.

Lakes in South Carolina
South Carolina has many lakes where you can go crappie fishing with great success. If you are not familiar with this state and all it has to offer, then the list of lakes listed below will help to give you an idea of some of the options that are available to you.
Lake Marion
Lake Murray
Hartwell Lake
Lake Wylie
Lake Moultrie
Lake Greenwood
Lake Jocassee
Wateree Lake
Lake Moultrie
Lake Keowee
These are just a few of the options that you have when you go crappie fishing in
South Carolina. You will find that there are many more areas where the crappie fishing is excellent. Talk to local bait shop owners and local fishermen to see where they would recommend you go.

If you are visiting friends or family in South Carolina they may be able to direct you to some remote ponds, creeks or lakes that have the potential for some great crappie fishing. These are places that you would probably never find on your own.

How to Catch Crappie
There are several ways to catch crappie as they are a fairly easy species to reel in. The most commonly used methods for crappie fishing are drifting, casting, trolling and still-fishing. Either of these techniques should render you some excellent results. Springtime fishing is the best time to go South Carolina crappie fishing because it is when the crappie are getting ready for spawning season. They will be migrating into the shallow, warm water to begin spawning.

In the summer the crappie will move out to deeper water during the middle of the day where the water is cooler and then back to the shallows during the night time hours. In the fall you need to fish in the shallow to moderately deep water during the late evening to early morning hours. However, they do still go out to the deeper water during the day when the sun is at its brightest.
