The Beaches
A lot of the state of South Carolina is on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. Visiting the Charleston, Myrtle Beach, or Hilton Head Island areas to see some pristine coastline with aquatic life and fun galore. Most beaches of South Carolina are public and allow visitors to bring coolers and umbrellas and make a day out of their coastal adventure. Bring your RV to one of the many coastal areas and enjoy a day on the beach!

Charleston
Charleston, South Carolina is a very historic town that is rich in southern culture and filled with southern hospitality. Visit during the spring for the Spoletto arts and music festival, or visit over the holidays for a warm alternative to the frigid temperatures that most of the rest of the country is experiencing. See the many art galleries and shops that line King Street, or head out to the beaches to enjoy a day of fun in the sun. Visit the historic College of Charleston campus, or take a tour of the Citadel’s campus. Drive around and see all the older homes and classic Charlestonian architecture of churches and other public buildings. There is something for everyone if your RV finds its way into historic Charleston.

Lakes
There are many lakes in South Carolina that can be enjoyed from campsites. Most lakes feature a campsite and even boat or jet ski rentals if you choose to take your journey onto the open waters. Pack your swim suit and head to one of the many beautiful lakes in SC while on your RV trip.

Myrtle Beach
Myrtle Beach features one of the beaches mentioned above, but also has quite the night life and lots of golf courses. Visit this area to enjoy one of many excellent public golf courses, bars and music venues, and five star restaurants. Many shops are here that feature local art, souvenirs, and other South Carolinian flair. Myrtle Beach is an experience not to be missed by anyone interested in visiting the south at any time of year.

South Carolina was one of the original thirteen colonies of America. This gem of the South has many different areas within its terrain to explore, from the sea level Lowcountry to the high elevation of Sassafras Mountain. And have 5 places that you should know to travel or living.

Columbia is South Carolina’s capital, and a lot of people choose to live here. It’s centrally located to the beach and the mountains. It’s one of the biggest cities in the state, and the population has grown to just over 120,000. Some of the biggest employers in the area are the University of South Carolina, the state government, and the hospital systems. Columbia (and Greenville) are the most affordable places to live in South Carolina that are also relatively good sized cities.

Greenville is located at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains and has cooler weather than the coastal areas of South Carolina. It snows usually about once or twice a year in the uppermost part of the state, and Greenville is the largest city in the upstate. It has an estimate of about 60,000 residents. This area has seen some of the largest growth for non-coastal areas in South Carolina, and it’s expected to grow even more in coming years. The city has plenty to do and lots of nice areas, but it’s also considered an up and coming area simply because of its past and projected growth.

Myrtle Beach is one of the most popular tourist areas in South Carolina. Every year, more than 15 million people visit South Carolina’s coast, and Myrtle Beach is at the top of the list of beaches, statistically speaking. Although a lot of people in Myrtle Beach live there year round, it’s considered more of a vacation spot. You’ll find putt-putt courses and beach shops sprinkled throughout the area. It also has a lot of large hotels and condo complexes right on the beach. Myrtle Beach is the most coastal city on this list. The residential population is estimated around 23,000.

Charleston is known for its history and culture. Its economy is also based largely on tourism, and it has started to make its way into the international tourism and real estate markets as it’s become the cultural hub of the state. You’ll find historic sites, museums, and art galleries throughout the main peninsula and surrounding areas. Charleston is considered more of an upscale port city and has 6 beaches along its coast (plus several islands and towns further inland). Charleston is comparable to Columbia in size, at just under 118,000.

Hilton Head does not attract as many tourists, and it’s known as a smaller and quieter coastal area. Various magazines often list Hilton Head in the top places to retire, but you’ll find a mix of people there. Its population is estimated at about 33,000. Real estate prices are relatively high, as the town has strict development and commercial guidelines. The town incorporated these rules in an effort to preserve the natural setting that people associate with Hilton Head.

With its rich agricultural heritage it’s no wonder that South Carolina is home to dozens of rich and varied gardens. From swamplands to manicured topiaries, the gardens of South Carolina offer visitors the opportunity to experience all kinds of botanical beauty. Here are six glorious gardens that any visitor to South Carolina should take the time to explore. South Carolina Botanical Garden – Clemson This 295-acre public garden specializes in unique nature-based sculptures. Each of these sculptures showcases the beauty of plant life in its design, blending nature and art in a beautiful symbiosis. Another feature is a variety of niche gardens which include the butterfly garden, the wildflower meadow, and the 70 acre arboretum. Visitors can stop in at the Fran Hansen Discovery Center to enjoy the work of South Carolinian native, Elizabeth Belser Fuller. Also available for discovery are the Bob Campbell Geology Museum and the historic Hanover House.

Audubon Swamp Garden – Charleston Originally a rice plantation, the Audubon Swamp Garden features 60 acres of swampland, traversed by boardwalks and bridges. Hundreds of species of flora and fauna live in the swampland. Visitors can walk a self-guided trail or take a trip through the rice lands on the 45 minute boat tour. Brookgreen Gardens – Murrell’s Inlet Located in the heart of a 9100 acre preserve along the coast, Brookgreen Gardens is structured around over 1200 sculptural works by 350 different artists. With 10 different “rooms” accented with ponds, fountains and of course sculptural pieces, the 300 acre gardens is a worthwhile visit for any nature or art lover.

Riverbanks Zoo and Garden – Columbia For a taste of Civil War history, combined with the entertainment of a trip to the zoo, check out this 170 acre home of the Saluda Historical District and Camp Sorghum. Children will enjoy the natural habitat exhibits of the zoo, while adults will love the spectacular view of the river valley. Swan Lake Iris Gardens – Springfield Bird lovers should not miss the opportunity to visit Swan Lake Iris Gardens, which is the only US public park to feature all 8 species of swans. The 150 acres is lovely from May-June when the extensive plantings of Japanese Iris are in full bloom. Visitors who are unable to see can still enjoy the gardens through a series of Braille plaques along an exploratory trail through the property.

Golfers can enjoy playing walk up rounds, with no reservations, or specialized golfing vacations that feature over seventy eight different courses in the area. Broadway at the Beach offers an aquarium and an IMAX theater, great attractions for families with children, as well as the upcoming Pavilion Nostalgia Park.

Hikers can enjoy the Huntington Beach State Park which offers fishing, trails, and public access to three miles of relatively isolated beach.

As with most states in the south, crappie fishing in South Carolina is potent much of the year. In some lakes here, you’ll find incredibly large specimens that make crappie from other areas of the country look like minnows. Where are the best lakes for crappie fishing in South Carolina, and what tactics should be used to assure the opportunity to catch these huge slabs? The first secret is that crappie fishing in South Carolina will be most productive in early spring, especially in April. While you can fish in the south pretty much year round, you’ll find the easiest catch in the month of April. You’ll expend less effort in this sort of excursion with greater return.

A visit to Lake Marion is sure to produce huge crappie. Here, you’ll find hundreds of brushpiles made of oak trees with green leaves where crappie like to stay overnight. Early morning crappie fishing in South Carolina can produce some large, slow moving crappie in the shallows under heavy cover. In order to catch these, it’s extremely important to have strong line because you can guarantee that it will get stuck on the brush at some point. Some of the anglers that frequent this lake recommend the use of 14-pound test line with fly rods. Some of these actually plant their own brush, using cinder blocks in which they can plant and sink the butt of a tree in the winter so that it is fruitful in the summer months. While you can find a few crappie in three feet of water around the cypress trees in early April, crappie fishing in South Carolina at this lake is best at depths of ten to twelve feet in twenty foot waters, where they prefer to spawn. Because April is the best time of the year for crappie fishing in South Carolina, you will want to make most of your outings during this time of year. Be sure to visit Lake Greenwood, were you’ll come across some lunker crappie, as well as black crappie that are enormous in size. Here, you can start fishing productively in late March, looking at six to eight foot depths while the crappie are spawning. Fish off the docks in April because the stumps, piers, and boathouses provide preferable cover for these sunfish. Until the water temperatures don’t reach 55 or 60 degrees until late April, you’ll find the majority of your crappie hiding here. Try using leadhead jigs with rubber bodies and feathered tails, with the brightness of the jig opposing the lightness of the exterior conditions. If these don’t work, try minnows, and you are sure to produce a great catch.

Twelve miles of white sandy beaches bordering the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. I love it and always will. Hilton Head Island, South Carolina ocean life is beyond normal living quality and, with the quantity of things to do, makes the perfect place to both visit and live. One can’t possibly understand the beauty that lies in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

This island is about food…and lots of it! Restaurants range from Japanese Steak Houses all the way to Coffee huts. In over two hundred and fifty establishments, you will never go hungry. Hilton Head nights out on such a tiny area has a urban feel combined with rural warmth. My personal favorite is Lodge, but any of the local clubs will please. Visitors always feel at home in the clubs. And if your night out doesn’t involve partying, a nice walk on the dunes guided by the white of the moon and the breaking waters of the water can be just as invigorating. With an obsurd amount to do and an obsurd amount to see during a stay, you will just have to come back again and again. Roughly 2.7 million visitors to the island the beach season can’t all be wrong. Hilton Head Island, South Carolina is one great island to see while being an even better island to reside.

Anderson South Carolina is an attractive place to visit, to live in or to go on vacation. It offers high to medium temperature ranges along with very low housing costs. It has a population of just over 2500 people and an average of 18 minutes to work commute. In addition to that there are lots of interesting details that comprise its history. There are facts and trivia of Anderson and the surroundings in the area. The crime rate there is also very low.

As the city was once powered by local water will on the Rocky River, it was the first one in the United States to be proud with uninterrupted electricity. This was the reason for Anderson, South Carolina to be nicknamed The Electric City.

This area was first inhabited by Cherokees and in 1977 it was transferred to a surveyor called Andrew Pickens, with a treaty. The Pendleton region, as it was called back then had two divisions – Anderson and Pickens. The first one called after General Robert Anderson, who was a partner in his surveys of Andrew Pickens whose name was given to the second one.

Due to the fact that Pickens was close to Pendleton people established a township further from Pendleton and closer to the county center. They called the new one Anderson Courthouse. So in fact Anderson, South Carolina started its existence not as a city or a town but as a courthouse.

Nowadays the leading source of income for people in Anderson, South Carolina, is manufacturing and it brings to the citizens, whose average age is 38, an average income of about $28000 per year. On the contrary in the early times of the city the community was primarily into farming – mostly hogs and corn and some textile industry also was featured.

In respect to education there are Anderson University and The Anderson Adult Education Center, three middle schools, ten elementary schools and academies and a pre-school South Fant Early Childhood Center. There are also two high schools there – T. L .Hanna High School and Westside High School, which can altogether, provide an alumni rate of 70% of the 25-year-old and older.

Anderson, South Carolina offers 70% sunshine year-round and temperature does not go higher that 90 degrees. The actual crime rate is as low as 7,8 percent and no one wonders why it was the first perpetually electrified city, no matter that the first battle of the Civil War was there, in the same place where the first Red Spider Lilies were grown in the USA. This very city, being the smallest of the three upcountry area ones in not only the seat of Anderson County but is also dubbed “The Friendliest City in South Carolina” and renowned for its amicability and accessibility.
